Creative Projects: Critical Visions
Each year, students in the Women’s Studies Program’s first year class, WST 101: Representations of Girls and Women, are charged with the task of producing a creative project. The assignment asks students to consider how the cultural artefacts that surround us in our everyday lives participate in the telling of shared stories about masculinity and femininity. Perhaps more importantly, the assignment asks students to alter those cultural artefacts in ways that reveal, disrupt, transform, or otherwise render apparent those stories. The works included in this exhibit are only a sampling of the impressive work produced by students in this class.
